TumbleBookLibrary
is a resource purchased by Woodlands for use by families and teachers.
As stated on the TumbleBookLibrary website, "TumbleBookLibrary is an
online collection of TumbleBooks...in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks
are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing
picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you
can read, or have read to you."
TumbleBookLibrary is not a
substitute for you, reading in person, to your child. It is useful
for enrichment or as a supplement for children who need it, but you
still need to read to and with your child every day! |

After
watching the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States
with the students and teachers from our deaf and hard-of-hearing
program, Ms. Roberts, our librarian, was inspired to ask students what
they dreamed of for the future and what they would do to personally help
make that dream come true. Each student at Woodlands wrote something on
a handprint cutout. As you can read, the dreams and personal actions
from the students at Woodlands vary widely from the simple to the
extraordinary.
Student’s dreams and personal actions seem to embody
the words of our new president, Barack Obama, “Change will not come if
we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we
are waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” |

Reading Olympics--2009
Woodlands reads 445,289.5 minutes
There were 331 students and 36 staff members participating in this
year's Reading Olympics! Thank you to each one for reading and
recording minutes of "outside" reading. We were able to read a
total of 445,289.5 minutes--enough to make sure our principal dressed in
1980's "vintage" skiwear on Monday, April 13, 2009.
